Yvresse

My mission yesterday was a success! Not only did I steep my senses in holiday glitter, I did indeed find the perfect scent to match.

I was finally able to sample Yvresse by Yves Saint Laurent, and I am in loooooove. The initial blast of fruitiness quickly settles into heady, sparkling musky spice. Formerly named Champagne (until vintners sued, which is just dumb because dang! what a tribute!), Yvresse does indeed smell the way Champagne makes you feel – giddy, tipsy, celebratory. It reminds me of Le Baiser du Dragon by Cartier, which is another favorite of mine.

Yvresse seems rather difficult to find – I went to five shops and only one had it – and it’s certainly not the least expensive scent out there, but I’m thinking that it may have to be a Christmas gift to myself. What better scent to wear on our wedding day than one that requires Champagne?
